Activities
Fact finding visits
The first events of the network were fact finding visits by a team UK academics, covering the key research themes.
UK workshop – Trent Bridge, Nottingham September 2009.
The second high profile event of the research network will be a workshop event in the UK. The workshop will have the aims of disseminating results of the fact finding mission and establishment of collaborative research partnerships. Representatives of funding organisations, for example EPSRC, UKIERI will also be invited to inform academics of possible bilateral funding opportunities. Researchers from each of the network partners in India will be invited to the workshop event to give presentations and act as leads in workshop activities. EPSRC funds will give grants to a limited number of Indian researchers coming here but we expect/encourage others to apply for appropriate travel grants in order to increase participation of Indian researchers. The workshop will build upon the activities of the initial fact finding mission and will establish active working collaborations between academics in the two countries. It should be noted at this point that the workshop event will not be restricted to MEC academics - complimentary expertise will be sought in the UK to enhance the collaborative projects.
India Workshop Events
To increase participation and to continue to build collaboration within the network, a further workshop events will be held in India. The location of these further workshop events will be prescribed by the development of the network and results of the initial fact finding tours and UK workshop.
